Public services is a term usually used to mean services provided by government to its citizens, either directly (through the public sector) or by financing private provision of services. The term is associated with a social consensus (usually expressed through democratic elections) that certain services should be available to all, regardless of income. Even where public services are neither publicly provided nor publicly financed, for social and political reasons they are usually subject to regulation going beyond that applying to most economic sectors. Public services is also a course that can be studied at college and/or university. These courses can lead entry in to the: police, ambulance and fire services. It is also an alternative term for civil service. From Wikipedia under the

Q. ... And were churches only open to whites and others to black people? Asked by Sweetness and Light - Mon Jan 12 16:14:42 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Everything weas segregated except shops, although there were separate entrances for blacks and whites in public buildings such as post offices; schools and universities were segregated, no blacks were allowed to work in shops or banks dealing with money, only menial jobs, separate carriages on the trains for whites and blacks (who had to travel third class) - beaches, swimming pools, cinemas, restaurants, everything duplicated for whites and blacks and also included in the segregation were people of mixed race and of asian origin (except Chinese who were considered "honorary whites"). "Blacks" could not stay over night in a white area and had to carry special "passes" all the time and yes, Churches were segregated too.
